In 3 months, on November 1st, I will set out to run 100 miles at the Javelina Jundred in Arizona. This will be my first attempt at the 100 mile distance. For me it's an extremely challenging goal .... with many 'unknowns' surrounding the outcome. Both a bit scary and exhilarating at the same time. Did I mention November 1st is the Day of the Dead?!? wink emoticon
To bring more purpose, meaning and 'giving back' to my running I have partnered with the US Adaptive Recreation Center in Big Bear, CA to raise funds for their program (more information at the link below). It's a great cause and for an organization that I have been involved with for many years. First as a participant/fundraiser for 10 multi-day rides from Big Bear to Mammoth (Peak2Peak) and also as a volunteer for their winter program. Running for the USARC will surely help motivate me to put in the big training needed to attempt this race plus keep me mentally focused throughout the long day and longer night in the desert. I would love if you can help me spread the word and provide support for my fund raising goals if you are able. Please feel free to share this on your FB page or via email with anyone you think would be interested. I will be keeping everyone informed with occasional training and fundraising progress reports. I couldn't do this without all your help! Thank you for reading! Cheers, John https://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/john-loftus/P2P20 |
